VARIATION ON TIM HOLTZ 12 TAGS OF CHRISTMAS 2007 TAG NUMBER 1

Hi Bloggers

I've always admired and have drawn inspiration from the one and only Tim Holtz.  I've always loved his ideas and tutorials for the 12 tags of Christmas and  I thought that one day I would like to have a go at them.  Yesterday was that day.

I got home from my 2nd SatScrap crop at The Rest Hotel in Porthcawl, where I had a great day it must be said, and decided to have a look at Tim's blog and start from the beginning - Well, that's a very good place to start don't you agree?  I took a look at his 12 Tags of Christmas from 2007 and decided to have a go at the 1st tag he gave a tutorial for.  I didn't have the stamps so had to do a variation on the design and this is what I came up with.

My Tag:-

Supplies Used:-

Kraft Luggage Label - I bought these from The Post Office, they're not Tim's
Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paints Picket Fence and Antiqued Bronze
Tim Holtz Blending Tool and Foam Pad
Tim Holtz Distress Ink:- Antique Linen, Festive Berries, Broken China, Black Soot
Tim Holtz Tonic Distressing Tool
Letter E - Papermania Chipboard Letters
Kanban Bling Black Adhesive Gemstones
Tim Holtz Muse Tokens
Tim Holtz Eiffel Tower Clear Stamp
Black Stranded Wool - From Stash

Tim's Tag:-

I love the effect of the crackle paint and how the inks have blended together forming new colours.

I can't wait to have a go at tag number 2.   I really enjoyed this little project!

CARD USING HERO ARTS FLOWER STAMP AND SHRINK PLASTIC

Hi Bloggers

OMW!  Haven't the nights drawn in?  It is really starting to feel like Autumn now.  Sam goes back to school next Wednesday so we're gearing up for that at the moment, then it's downhill to Christmas all the way.

I go to my 2nd SatScrap Scrapbooking Crop this Saturday so I have to prepare for that this evening as I'm at work tomorrow.  I've got lots of unfinished projects so I think I'll be concentrating on those this time.

Anyway, today I'm posting a card that I made when I was teaching for ACL.  It's using the same flower stamp that I used on the black/red/white tag I posted a couple of posts back.  This time I stamped the flower onto shrink plastic and coloured it in with Sakura Stardust Gel Pens.  I used Papermania paper that I've had forever and my Nestabilities Standard Circles Large to create the frame, the aperture and the mat for the computer generated greeting inside.  My class really liked this card and were Wowed by the shrink plastic.

My MIL starts her next session of Chemotherapy next Wednesday so she goes for blood tests on the Monday then if her blood is good she starts treatment of the Wednesday.  She does that for 3 consecutive weeks then she has a week off then the same again until the specialist says she's good for a break.

Hope you like!

As Always, I love to receive your comments and read each and every one.

RED, BLACK WHITE TAG MADE WITH SCRAPS ON MY WORKDESK

Hi Bloggers

Thank you for all of your congratulations for Sam yesterday.  They were much appreciated.

This week I was looking at a some of the piles of bits I have lying around my workspace and I thought I would use what was kind of in front of me to create something.  In other words I gave myself a little challenge.

I started of with a scrap of black glossy card and drew around a tag template and made a tag shape.  I punched a hole with a small circle punch at the top of the tag.  On my desk was a stamped image of a Hero Arts Flower which hadn't been stamped very well and was heading for the bin.  I coloured it with Pro Markers in Ruby and Black, added some black glitter using a quickie glue pen and some Crystal Stickles .

I embossed the tag with a Fiskars Swirl Texture Plate.  Cut half a red heart shaped doily and stuck it to the tag.  I then tied a scrap piece of black tuille in the middle with some DMC black tread and stuck it onto the tag using a glue dot.  I stuck a Black Pearl Pin from the Ribbon Girl through the tuille.  I added a co-ordinating selection of scraps of ribbon through the hole in the tag.  I cut white leaves using my Sizzix Sizzlits Flowers, Branches and Leaves set and stuck on top of the voille.  I stuck the coloured Hero Arts flower to top it off and added a red gemstone to the centre.

I'm really pleased with the result.  I've never made a tag topper myself before but Christine Emberson has been inspiring me on her fabulous blog Hopes and Chances.  It was quite quick and easy to do and I liked that about it.  I could sort of put it down and pick it up again when I wanted.

Hope you like it!
