A WARM HELLO AFTER SO MUCH TIME & 1ST STEP INTO MIXED MEDIA FACES

Hello Bloggers.  Firstly I must apologise for the length of time I have spent away from my blog.  It's been 15 months.  Those of you who remember me posting about my Mother-in-Law's cancer and death at 67 February 2013, 11 weeks later my Father-in-Law also passed away at 68 from a heart attack.  My life has been in a bit of a spin since and updating my blog has been the last thing on my mind.

I have always loved the Tim Holtz and mixed media look.  Anyway, I have this book called Doodles unleashed in which the author draws faces of women.  This took me back to my childhood where I used to love to draw glamorous looking women inspired by catalogue models and Joan Collins.

After plucking up a bit of courage, I decided to have a go and these are my very first attempts - Hope you like them:-

This is my very first attempt.  I was just doodling around last night because I was so bored of what was on TV.  I grabbed an ordinary pencil and drew her outline and hair in that. I coloured her in in Derwent coloured pencils, crayola metallic pencils and outlined her eyes and mouth in blue biro - I could not find my black micron 0.5 this morning so that has to do - I was only practising anyway.  I was really pleased with my very first attempt.

I then decided to take a look online and found a blog called Collage-Couture Faces where there was a PDF tutorial you could download to give step by step simple instruction on how to draw faces like you would see in mixed media so I then had a go at that - this is the result:-

This one looks a bit more polished I think.  I've found an online course that I would like to do on how to draw these faces it is called Paint a Mixed Media Girl by self taught mixed media artist Claudia Rossi  www.udemy.com/paint-a-mixed-media-girl.

Thanks for looking.

FLOWER FAIRIES DECOUPAGE MOTHER'S DAY CARDS

Hello Everyone!

I can't believe that I have not updated my blog for 6 months - after making such a good start with my blogging and gaining a few followers.  I have lots to tell you, so if you have time grab yourself a cuppa and bear with me for a few minutes.

As you may or may not know,  my Mother-in-Law had cancer of the lung lining.  Sadly at the end of February she died after a 16 month battle.  It has been 11 weeks since her death and we are as a family trying to come to terms with what has happened.  It has been a desperately sad time and we miss her very much.  I decided to take a break from my blog for a little while but I will gradually get back into it over the next couple of months.

Anyway, I have lots of new items listed in my Ebay store Black Cat Scrapbooking (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Black-Cat-Scrapbooking) from the latest Spellbinders dies to Martha Stewart punches and more.

I am showing two cards today that I made for Mother's Day a few years back using Flower Fairies Decoupage Kits.  I'm not sure of the names of the individual fairies but I love these and so did my Mum and Mother in Law.

Card and Envelope I made for my Mum

Supplies used:-
Ivory A4 Card - The Paper Mill Shop
Patterned Papers - K&Co, Papermania
Flower Fairies Decoupage Kit
Embossing Folder - Fiskars
Glossy Accents
Black Corner Peel-Offs - Local Craft Store
Coloured Adhesive Stones - Papermania

Card and Envelope I made for my Mother-In-Law

I loved making both of these cards and my Mother-in Law really appreciated all of the hard work I put into my efforts.  I really miss making her a card.

TATTY TEDDY BIRTHDAY CARD

Hi Bloggers

I must firstly apologise for being a bad blog friend.  I have not posted or commented in a while.  I have been absolutely flat out with my Ebay store Black Cat Scrapbooking.  I've been taking Pre-Orders for the new Spellbinders D-Lites dies and the new colour Tim Holtz Distress ink pads.

The card I am posting today is a card I made a long time ago in preparation for the ACL class I used to teach but unfortunately, we never got round to making so I thought it would be perfect to send to my Niece on her 9th birthday this Thursday.

I love Tatty Teddy and coloured this one in brown because the original Tatty Teddies were brown and the first teddy I bought Sam was a brown Tatty Teddy.   I love reading your comments and appreciate each and everyone of my followers for taking the time to do so.

Supplies Used:-

White Hammered Card - The Paper Mill Shop
Patterned Paper- HOTP free off my Manager when I worked at the Paper Mill Shop
Tatty Teddy Stamp - Free with Creativity Magazine

The greeting says - Wishing you fun and happiness on your Special Day! and was free with the Image Stamp.

Anyway, Have a great day Bloggers and I hope to be round commenting soon.

VARIATION ON TIM HOLTZ 12 TAGS OF CHRISTMAS 2007 TAG NUMBER 1

Hi Bloggers

I've always admired and have drawn inspiration from the one and only Tim Holtz.  I've always loved his ideas and tutorials for the 12 tags of Christmas and  I thought that one day I would like to have a go at them.  Yesterday was that day.

I got home from my 2nd SatScrap crop at The Rest Hotel in Porthcawl, where I had a great day it must be said, and decided to have a look at Tim's blog and start from the beginning - Well, that's a very good place to start don't you agree?  I took a look at his 12 Tags of Christmas from 2007 and decided to have a go at the 1st tag he gave a tutorial for.  I didn't have the stamps so had to do a variation on the design and this is what I came up with.

My Tag:-

Supplies Used:-

Kraft Luggage Label - I bought these from The Post Office, they're not Tim's
Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paints Picket Fence and Antiqued Bronze
Tim Holtz Blending Tool and Foam Pad
Tim Holtz Distress Ink:- Antique Linen, Festive Berries, Broken China, Black Soot
Tim Holtz Tonic Distressing Tool
Letter E - Papermania Chipboard Letters
Kanban Bling Black Adhesive Gemstones
Tim Holtz Muse Tokens
Tim Holtz Eiffel Tower Clear Stamp
Black Stranded Wool - From Stash

Tim's Tag:-

I love the effect of the crackle paint and how the inks have blended together forming new colours.

I can't wait to have a go at tag number 2.   I really enjoyed this little project!

Watch this space!

CARD USING HERO ARTS FLOWER STAMP AND SHRINK PLASTIC

Hi Bloggers

OMW!  Haven't the nights drawn in?  It is really starting to feel like Autumn now.  Sam goes back to school next Wednesday so we're gearing up for that at the moment, then it's downhill to Christmas all the way.

I go to my 2nd SatScrap Scrapbooking Crop this Saturday so I have to prepare for that this evening as I'm at work tomorrow.  I've got lots of unfinished projects so I think I'll be concentrating on those this time.

Anyway, today I'm posting a card that I made when I was teaching for ACL.  It's using the same flower stamp that I used on the black/red/white tag I posted a couple of posts back.  This time I stamped the flower onto shrink plastic and coloured it in with Sakura Stardust Gel Pens.  I used Papermania paper that I've had forever and my Nestabilities Standard Circles Large to create the frame, the aperture and the mat for the computer generated greeting inside.  My class really liked this card and were Wowed by the shrink plastic.

My MIL starts her next session of Chemotherapy next Wednesday so she goes for blood tests on the Monday then if her blood is good she starts treatment of the Wednesday.  She does that for 3 consecutive weeks then she has a week off then the same again until the specialist says she's good for a break.

Hope you like!

As Always, I love to receive your comments and read each and every one.

Please take a look at the items I have listed in my Ebay Shop at the following link:-

I'll be back soon with another post.

Enjoy your Day!

RED, BLACK WHITE TAG MADE WITH SCRAPS ON MY WORKDESK

Hi Bloggers

Thank you for all of your congratulations for Sam yesterday.  They were much appreciated.

This week I was looking at a some of the piles of bits I have lying around my workspace and I thought I would use what was kind of in front of me to create something.  In other words I gave myself a little challenge.

I started of with a scrap of black glossy card and drew around a tag template and made a tag shape.  I punched a hole with a small circle punch at the top of the tag.  On my desk was a stamped image of a Hero Arts Flower which hadn't been stamped very well and was heading for the bin.  I coloured it with Pro Markers in Ruby and Black, added some black glitter using a quickie glue pen and some Crystal Stickles .

I embossed the tag with a Fiskars Swirl Texture Plate.  Cut half a red heart shaped doily and stuck it to the tag.  I then tied a scrap piece of black tuille in the middle with some DMC black tread and stuck it onto the tag using a glue dot.  I stuck a Black Pearl Pin from the Ribbon Girl through the tuille.  I added a co-ordinating selection of scraps of ribbon through the hole in the tag.  I cut white leaves using my Sizzix Sizzlits Flowers, Branches and Leaves set and stuck on top of the voille.  I stuck the coloured Hero Arts flower to top it off and added a red gemstone to the centre.

I'm really pleased with the result.  I've never made a tag topper myself before but Christine Emberson has been inspiring me on her fabulous blog Hopes and Chances.  It was quite quick and easy to do and I liked that about it.  I could sort of put it down and pick it up again when I wanted.

Hope you like it!

PENNY BLACK JOY FOLD CARD AND SNOWFLAKE CONCERTINA CARD

Hello Bloggers

Well, I've had quite an eventful day today!

Firstly Sam and I had a dentist check up this morning - nothing to be done thank goodness!  Then we went into town to get a pastie for Sam and I had a voucher out of last weeks gazette for a free filled and topped donught!  Have to say it was gorgeous - I chose the chocolate topped one with cream in the middle!  From there we went up to Paul's Mums to visit.  She had a CAT scan yesterday to see where the hospital are going with her next treatment for her cancer.  When we went in she was not very well!  She felt light-headed and dizzy.  I think it is because she has lost her appetite due to the cancer and is not eating properly at the moment.  That combined with the pain she's in and the anxiety of this weeks hospital visits - she sees the specialist on Thurday morning.  She seemed to brighten up before we left so I hope we did some good!

From there we went to McArthur Glen, Sam was looking for a jacket.  We came home with school shoes from Clarks and a kettle from Tefal - no jacket!

I have 2 cards to post today both made with the same papers but completely different looks and folds!

Again, I made these with my ACL class and they really enjoyed making them!

The first one is a Joy fold card with a Penny Black image!  I love the Penny Black stamps - so adorable!

Supplies Used:-

White Linen Card - The Paper Mill Shop
Patterned Paper - Papermania
Photo Hinge
Green Card - DCWV Christmas Stack
Ribbon - Papermania
Clear Stamp - Penny Black Christmas Critters
Stayzon Black Ink Pad
Watercolour Pencils

Snowflake Concertina Card:-

Supplies Used:-

Green Card - DCWV Christmas Stack
Patterned Paper - Papermania
Snowflake Die Cut - Sizzlits
Christmas Greeting Stamp - Penny Black Christmas Critters
Stayzon Black Ink Pad
Diamante Gemstone - Papermania

The little sleeve slips over the card and keeps it together!

Anyway, Hope you like my cards as much as I enjoy reading all of your lovely comments!

Hello Lovely Bloggers!

I've just been around commenting on a few of your amazing blogs!  Some of the country are having a heatwave today but its around 20 degrees here in South Wales and raining for a change!

Today I am planning to crack on with the tidying of my desk which I use for my my Ebay store and my crafting so last week I started clearing it up and I have a pile left at the end of the desk which needs to be sorted through and cleared.

Today's card is a card I again made with my ACL card!  I really love the effect of Flower Soft and have bought a few of their kits.

To make this card I used the Flower Soft Pretty Pots Starter Kit and this card was one of the idea cards on the inspiration sheet in the kit!

Supplies Used:-

White Hammered Card - The Paper Mill Shop
Gingham Card - Free Printable
Flower Soft Pretty Pots Starter Kit
Deckle Edge Scissors

I loved making the little bouquet and I think the whole card looks really feminine!
